Miniland Pairs Game – Review

I am always looking for fun but educational games to play with the girls. This miniland pairs game from DKL really fits the bill.

Miniland pairs game

it is really great to find a game which all my girls can play together and get something out of it. The game is for 3-6 year olds and so is perfect for us. The game is meant for two players but I think it works well as a solo game if you make it against the clock. You can have a few players then and see who can get the fastest time.

The object of the game is really simple – you need to find pairs. the beauty of this version is that it gives so many different boards to use – you can play a million different ways just by alternating the sheet inside. There are 12 double sided sheets. It is so versatile. You could even make your own. I think I will use it next year to practice sight words, you would just need to draw the circles and write some words in the middle.

The number recognition sheets are really good. I like how they are presented as numbers and objects to count. It makes it more of a challenge for older children. Some of the boards really make you think – I find the calligraphy a bit of a challenge and it is good to have that in a children’s game. I’m hoping it will help to improve my memory too.

The sheets which come with the game are bright and colourful. The girls really like the animal ones. You can choose cartoon versions or photographs.

The game will help develop memory and concentration and also encourage turn taking. It is a great introduction to family board games and one we will be playing with for many years to come.
