The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham is

celebrating local hero Adam Peaty’s Olympic win

Staff at The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham celebrated British swimming sensation Adam Peaty’s Olympic win and Team GB’s first gold medal by naming their golden puffer fish ‘Adam Peaty’.

The 21-year-old from Uttoxeter smashed his way to victory at the Rio Games on Sunday night, blitzing the field in the 100m breaststroke and claiming a world record time of 57.13 seconds.

Amy Langham, General Manager at the attraction commented: “Adam’s gold win is a great start to the Rio Olympics for Team GB and we wanted to recognise the local youngster’s talent by naming our resident at the centre.

“Even though our golden peaty is less streamlined than the Olympian himself, he’s often first off the mark for dinner time!.

“We’re sure our ‘Adam Peaty’ will draw lots of interest to the attraction and soon become a firm favourite with the public.”
