4I’m not too happy with my house at the moment. There’s so much that needs doing. We never tackle anything on the list – just keep adding to it as more things break down. And why – oh why – did we get a cream carpet. I mean even without the three children, I’m the clumsiest woman on earth – what was I thinking? I would say – why didn’t anyone say that’s a bad idea, but they probably did and I didn’t listen.

So as we don’t have the time or the money to do anything to imporve the house I guess it’d be good to be grateful to what we do have. These are the things that make it feel like home.

1. Books
You can never have too many books. Well maybe you can but they look so pretty. I find it very hard to part with them, especially the ones which made a real impact on me. I love children’s books as well and cuddling up with the girls at the end of a busy day is the best thing in the world.

2. Homemade cake
I try not to make it too often as we just eat it. I have no will power. It’s just such a lovely mummy time activity when the twins are asleep. It reminds me of cooking with my mum and nan. I’m not the best cook in the world but I do love a bit of baking. And you have to lick the spoon.

3. A cuppa
Nothing better than a cup of tea. It makes everything better.

4. A blanket
Curling up on the sofa with a blanket and a really good boxset  – bliss.

5. Slippers
Yes I know I was born middle aged. It just feels wrong to walk around the house in shoes, and it’s too cold to not have anything on your feet. Kicking off your shoes and putting on some nice soft slippers makes you instantly relax. You know you’re home.
