Belfast: The Titanic City

April 11, 2014

Belfast’s Titanic Experience, which opened in 2012 and cost £77 million to construct, is so impressive it even has an area named after it – the dockside regenerated area, the Titanic Quarter. With this in mind, it’s worth booking a short break in Belfast to see it for yourself. Belfast Travelodges are a great option for a comfortable and reasonably priced place to rest your head in the city where the Titanic story began.

The Titanic Experience

As Kate and Leo showed us to stunning effect back in the nineties, there’s something about the story of the doomed maiden voyage of that luxury ocean liner that continues to haunt and captivate us all, over a hundred years later. Explore nine galleries to find out more about the story of the world’s most famous ship from planning to sinking.

Wining and Dining

The Titanic Quarter has lots of great places to treat yourself to a drink or a slap up dinner. Or why not re create the lifestyle of those well-heeled first class passengers by booking a luxurious champagne afternoon tea by the Grand Staircase – a re creation of the ship itself in the centre’s banqueting suite. This is available every Sunday afternoon.

For The Kids

Don’t worry if you have the kids with you. The Titanic Experience is bound to enthrall children new to the story, just as much as it does you. But this summer there’s an extra special reason to visit with kids – from May 17 until July 13th, it’s home to the Brick City Lego exhibit. This amazing exhibition will feature Lego re-creations of the Olympic Park, St Pancras Station and Westminster Abbey.

With this buzzing new area, Belfast has now secured its place as one of the top tourist attractions in the UK.
