We knew exactly what we wanted to make with our pumpkin this year. With two Princess obsessed twins it had to be a Cinderella pumpkin carriage. I had seen a couple of awesome pumpkin carriages last year. This Cinderella Pumpkin Lantern from Create With Your Hands was the main inspiration when it was featured in a round up of Pumpkin Decorating ideas on RedTedArt.

The girls were very keen to have a blue carriage for Cinderella so I spray painted their pumpkin with enamel paint. This produces a lovely glossy effect but it does come off if you rub on it when it’s wet so you do have to handle carefully. You also need to paint it the day before ideally and leave it. We drew on windows and a door and I cut it out as the girls are a bit little to do it themselves. The twins started decorating with some sparkly gems.

Molly wanted to make her own pumpkin so took out the middl eon her own and drew a face on hers with permanent marker. I cut it out for her trying to stick as closely as I could to her drawing. I always forget just how much hard work pumpkin carving is.

She was very pleased with her finished pumpkin.

Once the Cinderella carriage was finished I used a small pumpkin cut in half for the wheels.

The girls have been enjoying playing with it. It’s now on the bottom shelf of the bookcase with Cinderella and I love how it is one pumpkin you can keep past Halloween.
