Design a Friend VIP Style Event

October 30, 2018

On Saturday, we were invited to the DesignaFriend VIP Style Event at the Ice tank in Covent Garden.  It sounded like a lovely way to treat my eldest daughter after a brilliant Half Term at school. I have been really interested in finding out a bit more about the Design a friend range after seeing them in the Argos catalogue and wondering if they were as good as they looked.

The venue at Ice Tank was really lovely and all the white walls and pink lighting were great for taking photos. We loved how everything was presented with lots of DesignaFriend dolls with different activities matched to each.

The FabLabs nail polish dries quickly and comes in bright colours or sparkly glitter. You don’t need nail polish remover to remove it as it peels off.

We started off with a bit of pampering. Nails and Hair chalk from the FabLabs kits. We loved the bright colours and the fact they wash out so easily, great for a fun makeover at the weekend.

We enjoyed making jewellery using beads from the Mermaid Charm set from FabLabs.

We made a pretty dolphin necklace using beads from the Fab Labs kit.

The best part was designing an outfit for the Design a Friend dolls using fabric, paints, glitter and embellishments. The paint sticks made a really bright colour, which looked fantastic as mermaid hair.

After all that fun we enjoyed an exquisite Design a Friend biscuit made by Nikki Brown Cakes. They tasted as good as they looked.

Then we had lots of fun dressing up, with Brooke in her life-size DesignaFriend Boutique.  The DesignaFriend dolls had matching outfits.

There is a big choice of clothes and accessories in the Design a Friend range, everything from ball gowns to gilets and even dress up outfits for Halloween.

We loved the floppy hat and matching fluffy gilet and enjoyed taking photos in Arianna’s Photo studio.

At the end of the event, we were treated to an amazing goody bag packed with Fab Lab goodies and a beautiful DesignaFriend doll. It was hard to pick a favourite out of the dolls at the event. They all had detailed features, soft bodies, made for cuddling and glossy hair. The doll we got was Lola, it was the perfect match with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Thanks for such a brilliant day!
