Best known for its rolling vineyards and historic culture, Italy can also be a great place to take the kids. 

There are 20 different regions in this stunning country, and some are more child-friendly than others. So, let’s take a look at the top 5 regions in this beautiful country that are perfect to take the children. 

1. Sardinia

When it comes to child-friendly regions, Sardinia is tough to beat. Not only is there plenty of activities and attractions for kids here, but the locals are also warm, friendly and welcoming to families. 

No matter which part of Sardinia you head to, you can be sure there’s lots of family-friendly activities. In eastern Sardinia, you and the kids can enjoy a more adventurous getaway, with activities such as cave exploring, biking and climbing. If it’s beaches you’re looking for, northern Sardinia is ideal, while western Sardinia is a watersports haven. 

2. Sicily

Known to be the largest island within the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily is a beautiful place to take the kids. There are activities to suit all ages, with picturesque sandy beaches suitable for youngsters, and volcanic climbing for teens. 3. Garda

If you’re looking to enjoy a more adventurous and natural Italian getaway, you’ll want to head to Garda. Renowned for its beautiful lake, this is the place to head to for a more outdoorsy style holiday. 

Hiking and climbing are particularly popular here, enabling you and the kids to take in the stunning scenery of the region. Also known to be the greenest entertainment park, it’s split over 10 hectares of pine forest. From the new Jurassic River ride to the entertaining shows like L’Alchimista, there’s something to suit all ages here. 

As well as the park, you’ll also find lots of other attractions for kids such as the Pistoria Zoo, caves and grottos, and the Piccolo Mondo amusement park which features the highest slide in the region.


5. Maggiore

Another picturesque region which is perfect for kids, is Maggiore. There’s so much choice here with activities to suit the entire family. From cable car rides and water parks, to tours around a chocolate factory and scenic train trips; you’re sure to find something the kids will love here. The scenery is absolutely spectacular too. 

Many regions in Italy are ideal for family holidays. However, the five regions above are considered some of the best. Before heading to any of these destinations, it’s worth making an itinerary so you don’t miss any of the major child-friendly attractions.
