Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising – Review

October 12, 2012

Transformers

Do you like to share the things you loved when you were a child with your kids? Sometimes it’s a bit of a disappointment when they are just not interested. Things have moved on and children are used to slick digital animation and Mr Benn and Bagpuss don’t always cut it.

Sometimes the best thing is when a much-loved cartoon is brought up to date then the family can enjoy it together. Nostalgia for the parents and fun for the children. I have to admit that I was never a transformer fan, although I was always a bit envious of the hologram on my brother’s toys. Transformers were a big favourite with my husband and he couldn’t wait to share it with the girls. Have you ever seen the original series? It makes no sense whatsoever! The animated series of Transformers Prime is so much more watchable.

Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising

Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising, is out on DVD ready for the half term holidays from October 22nd.

The DVD sees Optimus Prime continue his battle of good over evil with his heroic autobots Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet and Bulkhead. In this adventure they are joined by Jack, Miko and Raf – three normal children who have stumbled across the existence of the Autobots and become unlikely allies.

This is a slick fast paced adventure. It is full of fun and action. There is a clear manga influence to the artwork and the transformation of the vehicles into robots is particularly exciting.

I have to admit that this is not really my cup of tea, however the Transformers fans in my house really enjoyed the series and will look out for the next one.

The DVD features five episodes, with more than two hours of action and adventure as the Transformers face their most epic battle to date. What better way to transform the next half term?

The film is out on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 22nd October
